About the little joys of art
& what is coming.
The Little Joys of Art began as a place for making things. Over time, I realized I was just as interested in the stories behind what i made—the experiences that shape who someone is, that change us, make us laugh, make us angry, and occasionally leave us wondering what exactly we’re supposed to do next.
I’m Joy Walker: an artist, storyteller, museum and hospitality professional, and longtime observer of people and the world around me.
This space is becoming a home for essays, personal stories, creative experiments, artwork, and conversations about the complicated experience of being human. We’ll talk about creativity and identity, work and ambition, bodies and change, resilience, relationships, ridiculousness, and the little moments of joy that somehow keep showing up in the middle of everything else.
Some stories will be mine.
Increasingly, I hope some will be yours.
The art is still here. Creativity is still at the heart of it. But The Little Joys of Art is growing into something bigger: a place to make things, tell the truth, share our experiences, and feel a little less alone in them.

Why The Little Joys of Art
Exists
I believe creativity is about so much more than making art.
It's about curiosity. Connection. Expression. Finding a different way to look at something familiar, asking a better question, sharing a story, or making someone feel seen.
The Little Joys of Art began with my love of creating, but my hopes for it have grown into something much bigger.
I want to build a space where creativity feels accessible, where stories bring people together, where imagination is encouraged, and where we remember that joy doesn't always arrive in grand gestures. Sometimes it shows up in a handwritten card, a meaningful conversation, an imperfect painting, or the simple courage to try something new.
Through original artwork, storytelling, creative experiences, and whatever comes next, my mission is to inspire people to make a little more room for creativity, connection, and joy in their everyday lives.
A Little About My Art
My artwork begins with curiosity, usually followed by an idea that refuses to leave me alone.
I am drawn to the little details, the unexpected humor, the familiar things seen from a slightly different perspective, and the moments that make everyday life feel a bit more magical.
Working primarily in watercolor, I create playful, whimsical pieces that often carry a little story of their own. Sometimes they're sentimental. Sometimes they're silly. Sometimes they're simply an excuse to make something beautiful for no other reason than the joy of making it.
I love that art can be deeply meaningful without taking itself too seriously.
More than anything, I hope my work makes someone pause, smile, remember something, or see a little bit of wonder in an ordinary moment.
