First commission piece since my breast cancer diagnosis. I was scared to start back. What if my Lymphedema makes it too hard to draw and paint. So far so good. A first sketch started for a double house portrait. More to come as the piece progresses this week.
Although scared, it was nice to be back making art again. Excited to be back working towards rebuilding The Little Joys of Art as a business as well.
If interested in a custom piece for the holidays, please check out my website for inspiration and ideas!
To my Wonderful followers and supporters I wanted to share the reasoning behind my silence this year and lack of painting, creating, and commissioning pieces. I have been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. Luckily it was found very early and should be fully treatable but treatment is a journey. My journey has somewhat already begun with diagnosis but I undergo surgery next week and begin the next stages of getting rid of the cancer and healing.
I share this because I still hope that The Little Joy's of Art will continue to be and grow and exist but for now I will be focusing on healing.
I hope by October I am inspired to create a few pieces in honor of breast cancer warriors and survivors and those who may no longer be with us in order to donate to many of the amazing organizations that have offered me assistance and support these last few weeks and in the weeks to come. @pinkribbongood @ohiohealth @mwbreast @roserobinbox

Getting back into the painting habit. I got away from it when I was moving and it is always too easy to get out of the habit of making art. However, when you are trying to make a career out of making art. You cannot lose the habit. So easy paintings today. Working on a few Valentine's day designs for a client. Tomorrow the bigger habit of getting back into commission paintings must begin again. You need a special kind of focus when painting portraits and I have 3 people in the next portrait piece that I am already behind in getting done due to my "block" last month. Hopefully full steam ahead in this year's goals, creations, and commissions.
As always, thanks for liking, sharing, and supporting my dream. 💭🌠🌌
Happy 2023! Yes, The Little Joys of Art is still here. Getting a slow start to the new year due to unforeseeable things that came up with moving to the new house that have affected getting the new studio up and running - however, new paintings, cards, and products are coming. So please keep following and watching and liking. 2023 will hopefully not disappoint!

It's been 7 months since the official launch of The Little Joys of Art the business, but art making and commissions were already underway starting in January last year. I thought I would share most of the art that was made in 2022. This reel includes most commission pieces, some paintings that happened on a whim, greeting cards, and a few original artworks. 2022 for the most part was successful in that I met my one and only goal of starting my own business and running it as best I could figure out in year one.
Each month brought new commissions and new challenges. Each month grew a little bit. I tried things that I had no idea what I was doing but attempted it anyway and at least always walked away with a new lesson on what to do differently next time.
I have more than just one goal for 2023, but if I were sharing just one today to ring in the new year, it would be to grow as a business next year. New customers including followers in all social media capacities, introduce new original artworks, be more intentional with passive income opportunities like print on demand and art licensing, do more live painting work, and officially show my art out in the community. Big Dreams and Big Goals!
Don't worry my commission work won't end either. I hope to be more intentional in reaching out and advertising my commission process and abilities for gifting throughout the year!!!
Happy New Year!
